Prompted by ideas of identity and loss, Jan Kopinski’s work, Mirrors, combines musical and visual imagery to explore aspects of dislocation, memory, movement, and transition collected on journeys through Poland. With Hungarian singer Anikó Tóth and his group Reflektor, a mixture of scored and improvised music is set to video imagery and manipulated on screen by video artist, The Joy of Box. Kopinski's new compositions are inspired by folk, religion, jazz, 20th Century Polish music and shaped by the visual elements of his research. Following his collaboration with Opera North he has created an individual and evocative jazz-soaked fusion of waking dream.
